BAFTA Winners
The British Academy of Film and Television announced their winners on Saturday. No surprises in any of the movie categories:
Best Film - The Aviator
Best Director - Mike Leigh (Vera Drake)
Best Actor - Jamie Foxx (Ray)
Best Actress - Imelda Staunton (Vera Drake)
Best Supporting Actor - Clive Owen (Closer)
Best Supporting Actress - Cate Blanchett (The Aviator)
Best Original Screenplay - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Best Adapted Screenplay - Sideways
Vera Drake is the obvious british favourite and Cate Blanchett makes Aviator the preferred movie. Foxx was a lock, and Clive Owen not surprising although he still has a tough fight for the Oscars. Screenplays also went to the most predictable choices.
So... this doesn't shed much more light on the Oscars, the only one that may significantly benefit from this award being Owen. We shall know in 2 weeks.
