Kinsey (USA/Germany) (Zoetrope/Fox Searchlight) (2004) ****Year: 2004iMDB

Director: Bill Condon Cast: Liam Neeson, Laura Linney, Peter Sarsgaard

Alfred Kinsey (Neeson) is the entomologyst professor from Indiana University that shook America when he started teaching the first classes on marriage and sexuality and after years of research and personal interviews with over 18,000 persons published the first research books on sexual behaviour: Sexual Behavior in the Human Male in 1948 and Sexual Behavior in the Human Female in 1953. Despite the controversy inherent around this kind of research, especially in the early 50's, Dr. Kinsey's work and interview methodology is widely respected in the academic community.

The movie manages to capture the essence of Kinsey's research and obstacles, almost to the point that it seems like an artistic documentary. Filled with humor and exposing the false prudishness of the society in the 40's, Kinsey is very welcome in an American society that does not seem to have evolved past their inhibitions from the beginning of the century.
