Taking Luc Besson's premise and putting Queen Latifah as the New York City taxi super-driver and SNL's Jimmy Fallon as a disaster detective is obviously expected to get strong laughs in an action movie. While Besson is masterful in creating action movies and has a decent touch for humor, the american version can only hope that the humor will keep this movie afloat. If you can't sleep on the airplane, you will get a few genuine laughs out of the movie. Otherwise, rent the french version or watch something else altogether.
