Tupac: Resurrection (USA) (MTV) (2004) ***1/2Year: 2003iMDB
Director: Lauren Lazin Cast: Tupac Shakur
Tupac Shakur's life is certainly one worth talking about: talented rapper he became famous for promoting "gangsta rap" with lyrics inciting to violence against the police, serving prison time for sexual assault and battery, he became associated with the East Coast/West Coast Rap War and he was shot to death in Las Vegas at age 25.
Resurrection tells the story of his life through Tupac's own words and attempts to give a view of the world through his own eyes. As such it can be accused of being biased and too lenient on some of the darker traits of Tupac's character. But that is a job that the tabloids have done well enough. What is less known is Tupac's vision, his actual intelligence and the impact that his upbringing had on him. He resented poverty, injustice against black people and was considering himself to be a spark that would lead to a new revolution. His music, after listening to Tupac's thoughts becomes more pluridimensional and Tupac remains arguably one of the best voices that the Rap movement ever produced.
