Hana and Alice (Japan) (2004) ***1/2Year: 2004iMDB

Whimsical and sweet, Hana and Alice is a comedy about the length that one can go in order to gain a love that's not reciprocated. As the two girls start highschool, Hana develops a crush on one of the older boys, Miyamoto. She starts half-jokingly to take advantage of a small accident that he has, trying to convince him that he has partial amnesia, not remembering that she is in fact his girlfriend. Soon Hana gets completely wrapped in her story and involves her friend Alice as well who is placed to play the role of Miyamoto's also "forgotten" ex-girlfriend.
The premise of the movie sounds naive and too thin to hold for two hours, but it is nicely pulled off with a genuine mix of innocence and guilt. A warm and enjoyable movie.
