Robots (USA) (Fox Animation/20th Century Fox) (2005) ***Year: 2005iMDB
Director: Chris Wedge, Carlos Saldanha Cast: Ewan McGregor, Robin Williams, Halle Berry, Amanda Bynes, Drew Carey, Mel Brooks
Fox Animation Studios continues to attempt to place their bid in the tough world of animated feature films, following their semi-success Ice Age with... another semi-success (or were they both semi-failures?).
Robots is amusing and exploits the premise of a world of robots into some funny moments (giving birth takes 12 hours of labor - the amount of time it took the parents to assemble their newly received baby-robot). It also utilizes Robin Williams's talent successfully in a star-studded voice-over cast. It is also a tender story centered around the idea that every person is special and has an amazing potential if they believe enough in themselves and go after their dreams. It is a movie you would certainly want your kids to see, but unless you're bringing your 5 year old to the theatre you might want to consider the other options at the cineplex and delay watching Robots until you will have a 5 year old with you, as then you will be able to share their enthusiasm.
