Me and You and Everyone We Know (USA) (Film Four) (2005) ***1/2Year: 2005iMDB

Director: Miranda July Cast: John Hawkes, Miranda July, Miles Thompson, Brandon Ratcliff

Me and You and Everyone We Know is easier to categorize as an artsy rambling than to even attempt explaining what it's about. Writer, director and protagonis Miranda July turns her own vision of modern and contemporary art into a movie, showing us that even the most abstract creations come from the same feelings and doubts and experiences that fill everyone's life: love, divorce, children, growing old, sex, etc.

July's vision can be disturbing for some, as the movie approaches repeatedly sex from the perspective of underage children. I am not sure what the intended message of those passages was, but the world seen through the eyes of the child protagonists retains its innocence even when regarded from the outside it could seem dubious.

Me and You and Everyone We Know is definitely an unique movie. As I watched it, I found myself oscillating between "What the h...?" and "Brilliant". But if you're not afraid of watching something that is obviously different, even though there is a risk you'll find it pretentious, then give it a try.
