Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (UK/USA) (Warner Bros) (2005) ***1/2Year: 2005iMDB
Director: Mike Newell Cast: Brendan Gleeson, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Stanislav Ianevski, Michael Gambon
Harry Potter continues his adventures which grow increasingly darker and more difficult in a world of magic that is not all full of joy and laughter, but rather increasingly worried by the menace of the dark lord Voldemort. Director Mike Newell steps up to the plate and creates the right atmosphere for the story that deals not only with magic contests and evil wizards but also, for the first time in the series, with our heroes becoming teenagers and going through the challenges of their age. And asking a girl on a date is not easy even when you're famous and one of the best broom fliers in school.
Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint grow well into their roles and so does Emma Watson although we have trouble understanding her feelings - she always cared for Harry, she goes to the ball with the hottest guy around and then she tells Ron that he should've asked her to the ball first! I guess its never easy to understand girls :).
Whether you're a fan of the novels or just interested in the movies, The Goblet of Fire is not to be missed. Thoroughly entertaining, the movie works for all ages although its edge may worry this time some of the younger children. The main problem however remains the fact that while the 6th novel is out, we have to wait 2 more years for the 5th movie.
