Howl's Moving Castle (Japan) (Ghibli) (2005) ***Year: 2005iMDB
Director: Hayao Miyazaki Cast: Chieko Baysho, Takoya Kimura, Akihiro Miwa
Miyazaki's movies always tell a captivating and imaginative story while also delivering a well defined message and his latest movie is no exception. Howl is a misunderstood young wizard who constantly risks his life trying to stop the war between two kingdoms at the risk of losing his own identity.
However the various other threads of the story don't quite mesh together. Sophie is a young girl that gets transformed into an old woman by another witch who is hoping this way to get to Howl. The bad witch however turns out not to be so bad, Sophie tries to save Howl from self-distruction with her love, while he is willing to die to save the world from the destruction of war... Still, even if the plot didn't quite add up for me, the visual treat was enough to keep me interested in the movie till its very end.
