Walk the Line (USA) (20th Century Fox) (2005) ****1/2Year: 2005iMDB

Director: James Mangold Cast: Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, Ginnifer Goodwin, Robert Patrick

Joacquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon have great chemistry as they impersonate legend Johnny Cash and his second wife, also country singer, June Carter. Phoenix (who was chosen by Cash himself to play this role, before he died in 2003) and Witherspoon got professional training for over 6 months in order to sing themselves all the songs that are performed in the movie and manage to be spot on in doing it. It is very easy to sum up this movie: so far, just like Ray last year, Walk the Line is the best family entertaining movie that you can watch this winter.

Walk the Line may be lighter and lacking the social complexities of Ray, but brings more of the amazing musical age in which Johnny Cash affirmed himself. When you see a concert in a random tour in a random bar where casually you realize that on stage follow one after another Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley - all before becoming the individual superstars that each turned out to be, all you can say is "Wow!".
